Handle only by the crown. Rinse gently with water (do not scrub the root). Place back in the socket if possible, or store in milk or saliva. Get to us within 30–60 minutes for the best chance of saving it.
Rinse with warm salt water. Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen as directed. Apply a cold pack (20 min on / 20 min off) to the outside of your cheek. Never place aspirin directly on the tooth or gum.
Keep the crown if you have it. Temporary dental cement (available at most pharmacies) can protect the exposed tooth until you reach us. Do not use super glue. Call us for same-day re-cementation.
A dental abscess is a bacterial infection that can spread if untreated. Apply a cold pack to reduce swelling. Do not attempt to drain it yourself. Come in immediately — abscesses are treated as urgent cases.
